Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 27, 2026
MMAI Media LLC ("MMAI Media," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company based in San Francisco, California, operates the website at mmai.media (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have, including your rights under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (the "GDPR") and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (the "CCPA").
The short version
- The only personal information you give us on the Site is the email address you enter in our newsletter form, if you choose to subscribe.
- We use it to send you our newsletter, launch updates, and news about MMAI Media. We do not sell it, rent it, or use it for third-party advertising.
- You can unsubscribe at any time, for free, using the link in every email we send, or by emailing us.
- Our email provider is Brevo, YouTube hosts the videos we embed, and Google reCAPTCHA helps keep bots out of the signup form. We do not run our own analytics or advertising trackers on the Site.
- You have rights to access, correct, and delete your information, and to withdraw consent. See GDPR rights and California rights, or email info@mmai.media.
Who We Are
MMAI Media LLC, San Francisco, California, United States, is the "controller" of personal data collected through the Site under the GDPR and the "business" that collects personal information under the CCPA. You can reach us at info@mmai.media.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Email address. When you subscribe to our newsletter through the signup form on the Site.
- Consent and subscription records. A record that you ticked the consent box and confirmed your subscription, the date and time, and the IP address used. Our email platform may record these so we can demonstrate that you consented.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you include, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Server and technical data. When you visit the Site, our web server and hosting providers may automatically log your IP address, the date and time of the request, the pages and files requested, the referring page, and your browser, operating system, and device type.
- Data sent to third-party services the Site loads. To display the Site, the signup form, and embedded videos, your browser connects to Google (to load the Inter font from Google Fonts, and to run Google reCAPTCHA on the signup form), to YouTube, which Google operates (on pages that embed a YouTube video, to load the video player), and to Brevo (to load the signup form's styles and scripts). These providers receive your IP address and standard browser information. See Who We Share Information With.
- Email engagement data. Our newsletters are sent through Brevo, which may record whether an email was delivered and opened and which links were clicked, along with your email client or device type and approximate location inferred from your IP address, using standard techniques such as tracking pixels and redirected links.
What we do not collect
The Site has no user accounts, comments, or checkout. We do not ask for your name, postal address, phone number, or payment details, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health data, government IDs, precise location, or information about race, religion, or sexual orientation). We do not currently use our own analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking tools on the Site; the third-party services described in this policy operate under their own policies. If that changes, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
How and Why We Use Your Information
We only use personal information for the purposes below. For visitors in the European Economic Area ("EEA") and the United Kingdom ("UK"), the table also shows the legal basis for each purpose under the GDPR.
| Purpose | Information used | GDPR legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Send you a confirmation email, our newsletter, launch updates, and news about MMAI Media, our videos, games, and other projects | Email address; subscription records | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Keep records of your consent, subscription, and unsubscription, and make sure we honor your opt-out | Email address; consent and unsubscribe records | Legitimate interests in complying with the law and respecting your choices (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Protect the Site and signup form from spam, bots, and abuse; fix technical problems | IP address; browser and device data; server logs | Legitimate interests in keeping the Site secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Respond to your emails and handle privacy requests | Email address; content of your message | Legitimate interests in responding to you (Art. 6(1)(f)); legal obligation for privacy requests (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
| Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect rights and safety | Any of the above, as needed | Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)); legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
Providing your email address is voluntary. If you do not provide it, you simply will not receive the newsletter. We do not make decisions about you using automated decision-making or profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use your information to serve third-party advertising.
Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time (see Newsletter and Unsubscribing). Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew it. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object (see Your Rights Under the GDPR).
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and information collected through the Site is transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. If you access the Site from the EEA, the UK, or elsewhere outside the United States, your information will be transferred to countries whose data protection laws may not offer the same level of protection as the laws where you live.
Our service providers may rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. By ticking the consent box and subscribing, you explicitly consent to the transfer of your email address to the United States after having been informed of these possible risks. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see Newsletter and Unsubscribing).
How Long We Keep Your Information
- Newsletter email address and subscription records: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- After you unsubscribe: we keep your email address and the date of your unsubscription on a suppression list for as long as needed to make sure we do not email you again. You can ask us to erase this record too, and we will do so unless we are required or permitted by law to keep it.
- Emails you send us: for as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterward in case of follow-up, then we delete them.
- Server logs and technical data: only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, in line with our hosting providers' log retention practices.
- Email engagement data: held in Brevo for as long as your contact record exists, and deleted when we delete that record.
We may keep information for longer where the law requires it or where we need it to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Your Rights Under the GDPR (EEA and UK)
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy.
- Rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Erasure: have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten") in the circumstances the GDPR provides.
- Restriction: ask us to pause processing of your data in certain circumstances.
- Portability: receive the data you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You may also object to direct marketing at any time, and we will stop.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as described under Newsletter and Unsubscribing.
- Complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example in the EU country where you live or work (a list is on the European Data Protection Board's website, edpb.europa.eu), or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@mmai.media. We may need to verify your identity (for example, by asking you to confirm from the email address we hold). We respond within one month, which we may extend by up to two further months for complex or numerous requests, and we will tell you if we do. There is no fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
This section applies to California residents and supplements the rest of this policy. Whether or not MMAI Media currently meets the CCPA's applicability thresholds, we extend the rights below to California residents.
Personal information we collect
In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, for the purposes described in How and Why We Use Your Information:
| CCPA category | What we collect | Source | Disclosed for a business purpose to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Email address; IP address | You; your browser or device | Brevo; hosting providers; Google (reCAPTCHA) |
| Internet or other electronic network activity | Browser and device type; pages requested; date and time; referring page; email opens and clicks; approximate location inferred from IP address | Automatically, from your browser, device, or email client | Brevo; hosting providers; Google (reCAPTCHA, Google Fonts, YouTube) |
We have not collected any other category of personal information, including commercial or financial information, biometric information, professional or education information, audio or visual information, inferences used to build a profile about you, or "sensitive personal information" as defined by the CCPA (such as precise geolocation or government identifiers). Retention periods are described in How Long We Keep Your Information.
No sale or sharing
We have not sold or shared (for cross-context behavioral advertising) any personal information in the past 12 months, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of, and we do not display a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give you a right to limit it.
Your rights
- Right to know and access: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (we do neither), and to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect it).
- Right to non-discrimination: we will not deny you services, charge you different prices, or give you a different quality of service because you exercised your rights.
How to make a request
Email info@mmai.media with the subject line "California Privacy Request" and tell us which right you want to exercise. Because we operate only online and have no account system, we verify requests by asking you to confirm control of the email address associated with the request. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for your signed permission and verify your identity directly with you.
We will confirm receipt within 10 business days and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend by up to 45 additional days and will tell you why. Requests are free, and you may make a request to know up to twice in any 12-month period.
California "Shine the Light"
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 lets California residents ask which personal information a business has disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the signup form or send us personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their information, email info@mmai.media and we will delete it.
If you are in the EEA or the UK and below the age at which you can consent to the processing of your data online in your country (between 13 and 16, depending on the country), please ask a parent or guardian to subscribe on your behalf.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, and we limit access to people and providers who need it. No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Third-Party Links
The Site links to other platforms, such as YouTube, Spotify, Patreon, Itch.io, Substack, Ko-fi, X, Instagram, Bluesky, Twitch, and Medium. Those services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and are not responsible for. Please read their policies before giving them any information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add features or tools or when the law changes. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If we make a material change, we will give prominent notice on the Site and, where the law requires, notify subscribers by email or ask for your consent again.
